Tenderness by Allie Schaitel
Artist's Statement:
This piece comes from a period of time where photos of genuine emotional intimacy were catching my attention. I couldn't get enough images of expressions of tenderness and fondness between two humans. There is something so raw and real about moments in time where lovers are lost in their affection each other. That closeness to another individual is a highly sought after craving for humans. There is a subtle power in a caress, a loving gaze, or a simple hug.
But intimacy is a fickle beast. A lack of it can send one soaring into a disillusioned place of disappointment and loneliness, while too much can be overpowering and suffocating. Because emotional and physical intimacy are so closely related to overall happiness and even human development, making a piece of art surrounding the subject can resonate with any viewer. The way people relate to each other, especially in private moments, will always be infinitely interesting to me and to put that interesting interaction on paper is both enjoyable and pleasurable.
